New Business Manager | Marketplace and e-commerce

I'm currently recruiting for a New Business Manager on behalf of an established UK retail business with a growing online marketplace and e-commerce proposition.

This is a commercially focused opportunity for someone with experience in business development, supplier acquisition, marketplace growth or partner management.

The role

You'll be responsible for identifying, engaging and onboarding new brands, sellers and suppliers across a range of priority categories.

The role will cover the full new business journey, from prospecting and pipeline development through to commercial negotiation, onboarding, launch and early-stage performance. You'll work across marketplace and dropship models, helping partners identify the most suitable route to market.

You’ll collaborate closely with Buying, Marketplace, Digital, Merchandising, Content and Operations teams to identify range gaps, respond to customer demand and support online growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new brands, suppliers and marketplace sellers.
  • Build and manage a strong new business pipeline.
  • Source partners that address assortment gaps and category opportunities.
  • Develop acquisition strategies to support range growth and revenue targets.
  • Research markets, competitors, categories and emerging brands.
  • Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, industry events and webinars.
  • Create and present compelling partnership propositions.
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiate mutually beneficial terms.
  • Identify opportunities for marketing investment and advertising revenue.
  • Negotiate promotional activity to support visibility and early sales performance.
  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding process through to launch.
  • Keep internal stakeholders updated on pipeline progress and key opportunities.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Three to five or more years’ experience in business development, sales or partner acquisition.
  • Experience within e-commerce, online marketplaces, retail or a digital platform.
  • Knowledge of seller and product compliance.
  • Experience with supplier onboarding and marketplace ecosystems.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, pitching and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written, numerical and analytical ability.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Excel, including formulas and graphs.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and administration skills.
  • A collaborative, professional and proactive approach.

Experience with Mirakl Marketplace and/or Virtualstock would be advantageous, although it isn’t essential.
