Job Description

Communications Engineers will be responsible for support and delivery of critical voice and management systems to facilitate effective communication across the organisation. Ensuring integrity, security and availability to Staffordshire Police and partners at all times.

As a Communication Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Staffordshire Polices communication infrastructure.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Ensuring Security and Performance: Manage the security, availability, and overall performance of the Forces communications infrastructure.
  • System Configuration and Management: Oversee configuration, capacity planning, continuity, and release management in alignment with ITIL best practices.
  • Incident and Service Request Handling: Effectively manage communication-related incidents and service requests, ensuring resources are optimally utilised.
  • Firmware and Application Updates: Document and manage all application and firmware releases according to best practices.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure compliance with security regulations, working closely with Cyber and Network Engineers to enforce policies.
  • Optimisation and Resilience: Maximise system performance through intelligent configuration while planning and implementing resilience strategies to prevent outages.
  • Operational Safeguards: Implement robust checks and controls to protect live operational environments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously track communications system performance to maintain high-quality service delivery.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Significant experience in a 3rd line voice/communications engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge of call handling, call recording, call analytics, and SIP telephony.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-vendor voice/communications/SIP implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Netcall Liberty or Contact Centre technologies
  • Unify Openscape or SIP telephony
