Azure Data Platform Engineer
Location: Greater Manchester, hybrid 1 day a week in the office.
Salary: Competitive (per annum)
Terms: 3-Year Fixed Term (potential to extend or become permanent)
Benefits: 53 days paid annual leave with a generous pension
We\’re hiring an Azure Data Platform Engineer to join a digital research programme focused on high-performance computing and real-world impact, including health research such as Parkinson\’s disease studies.
The Azure Data Platform Engineer will lead on design and management of cloud-based data infrastructure, working primarily in Microsoft Azure. The role sits within Cloud Operations but works closely with Software Engineering and Data and Analytics teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data systems using Azure Data Lake, Blob Storage, Cosmos DB, and SQL Database
- Build and manage ETL pipelines with Azure Data Factory
- Develop big data workflows using Databricks and Apache Spark
- Write and maintain infrastructure code using Terraform (not just using modules writing the code is essential)
- Monitor and improve cloud performance, security, and documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices and future tech direction
