We have an opportunity for a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer (Thermal) to join the team at our Silverstone facility. In this role, you will work within a group of engineers to support the development of the aerodynamic thermal systems of the team’s race cars (brakes, PU, electronics), through the analysis of computational methods and an innovative approach to design and development.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop aerodynamic cooling solutions for PU, brake, electronics, and other thermal systems, ensuring target performance parameters are met.
- Analyse CFD and test data (rig, tunnel, track) to deliver car performance and drive innovation in design and development.
- Build a strong understanding of aerodynamic structures and behaviours around the race car to inform thermal strategies.
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to define and deliver a clear aerodynamic thermal development plan.
- Continuously improve design, testing, and analysis processes by proposing and implementing new methods and tools.
What do you need to bring to the team?
- Experience in a similar role within motorsport, with a focus on aero-thermal management of powertrain, brakes, electronics, or related systems.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and thermal principles, with hands-on experience in both 3D CFD (Star-CCM+ preferred) and 1D simulation tools such as GT-Suite or Dymola.
- Experience modelling full vehicle systems and sub-components, with the ability to translate simulation results into actionable design improvements.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably CATIA/3DExperience) and solid general IT skills.
- Clear, concise communication and a collaborative mindset, with a drive to contribute to a high-performance, inclusive culture.
