Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Aerodynamic Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of Formula 1® brake cooling and thermal management geometries. This role sits at the intersection of aerodynamics, heat transfer, vehicle performance, and race operations, playing a critical role in maximizing braking performance, reliability, and aerodynamic efficiency across the season.

You will take technical ownership of brake duct and cooling concepts, from early development through CFD, wind tunnel correlation, and on-track validation, working closely with Vehicle Dynamics, Performance, Design Office, and Trackside Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop brake cooling geometries (ducts, internal flow paths, etc), performing advanced CFD analysis to drive design directions.
  • Optimize thermal performance, cooling efficiency, and external aerodynamic impacts and interactions.
  • Balance cooling efficiency against aerodynamic sensitivity and regulatory constraints.
  • Drive CFD, wind tunnel, and track correlation of brake cooling performance.
  • Support race and test events with data analysis, performance feedback, and cooling configuration decisions.
  • Act as an aero technical authority for brake cooling topics (front or rear).
  • Collaborate with Design Office, Vehicle Dynamics, and Race Engineering.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to aero development best practices.

What do you need to bring to the team?

  • Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in Formula 1® or high-level motorsport aerodynamics.
  • Strong expertise in brake cooling aerodynamics and thermal management.
  • Solid understanding of internal flows, heat transfer, and wheel wake interactions.
  • Experience with wind tunnel testing, CFD and track correlation.
  • Strong technical judgement and ability to lead performance-critical development.

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team challenges conventions and redefines success through bold ambition, cutting-edge innovation, and an unwavering commitment to precision and excellence—on and off the track. This includes offering industry-leading pension, generous time off and, as part of a global brand, huge potential for career development.
