About the Company

Our client is a growing engineering and manufacturing business supplying specialist equipment to a range of industrial sectors across the UK. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Engineer to join their engineering team in Hull.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on engineering role involving the assembly, servicing, fault finding and testing of specialist vehicle-mounted equipment. The successful candidate will be confident working with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems and capable of working independently with minimal supervision following initial product familiarisation.

  • HGVs or specialist equipment

Key Responsibilities for the Workshop Engineer:

  • Assembly and installation of specialist equipment
  • Servicing, maintenance and repair work
  • Fault finding and diagnostics on:
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical components
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Testing and commissioning completed machinery
  • Supporting final inspections and quality checks
  • Working independently and collaboratively within the engineering team
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety and workmanship

What we need from you for the Workshop Engineer role:

  • Previous experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Hydraulics
    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical engineering
  • Ability to diagnose faults and solve technical problems
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Advantageous experience for the Workshop Engineer role:

  • Experience working on access platforms, plant equipment, commercial vehicles or agricultural machinery
  • Knowledge of electro-hydraulic systems
  • Engineering qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
