Location - Batley

Full time Permanent, Full time Working Hours: Monday to Thursday - 7am - 5.15pm or 6am - 4.15pm

Salary: £28k per annum (depending on experience)

Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services required for furniture manufacturing. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining high quality standards, reliable supplier relationships, and uninterrupted production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials such as wood, metal, fabrics, foams, finishes, packaging, and hardware
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, and payment terms to achieve best value
  • Create and manage purchase orders in line with production schedules and inventory requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply, quality, or delivery issues
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Design, Quality, and Inventory teams
  • Track market trends, material availability, and price fluctuations
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or sustainability
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and supplier documentation

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Procurement, or a related field - preferred.
  • CIPS qualification (Or working towards) - preferred
  • Proven experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within manufacturing or furniture production
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Familiarity with materials used in furniture manufacturing
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience sourcing sustainable or FSC-certified materials
  • Knowledge of international sourcing and logistics
  • CIPS certification or working toward professional procurement qualifications
  • Experience managing multiple suppliers across different material categories
