We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Goods In Operative to join our busy vehicle conversion workshop. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the warehouse and workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving deliveries, moving stock and materials, operating a forklift truck, and assisting technicians to ensure production schedules are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Goods In
- Receive, unload and inspect incoming deliveries.
- Check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Report any shortages, damages or discrepancies.
- Label, record and store stock accurately.
- Maintain organised storage areas and stock locations.
- Carry out stock checks and assist with inventory control.
- Workshop Support
- Supply technicians with materials, components and equipment.
- Move vehicle parts, accessories and finished products around the workshop.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
- Dispose of waste materials safely and keep work areas clean and organised.
- Support general workshop duties as required.
- Assist with preparing vehicles and materials for production.
- Forklift Operation
- Safely operate a counterbalance forklift truck to move stock and materials.
- Load and unload deliveries from vehicles.
- Transport large or heavy items between warehouse and workshop areas.
- Complete daily forklift safety checks and report any defects.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures when operating equipment.
- General Duties
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse and workshop.
- Follow company health and safety policies at all times.
- Wear appropriate PPE and work safely around vehicles and machinery.
- Assist other departments when required to meet production deadlines.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or workshop environment.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible with a positive attitude.
- Desirable
- Experience within the automotive or vehicle conversion industry.
- Knowledge of stock control systems.
- Experience using pallet trucks and warehouse equipment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
