About the Opportunity
Talent Torch is supporting a leading multidisciplinary environmental consultancy who deliver innovative, sustainable solutions across major UK development and infrastructure projects. You’ll join a highly respected Hydrology team made up of hydrologists, hydraulic modellers and civil engineers, playing a key role in technical delivery, team leadership, project strategy and client management. This is a brilliant opportunity for a Senior or Principal-level professional who wants to step into a central role shaping a growing national team. You’ll be based in either Manchester or Cambridge, with hybrid working and occasional collaboration days at the Sheffield office.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Hydrology Focus: Preparing flood risk assessments, environmental statement chapters and technical hydrology reports; conducting site walkovers, surveys and risk assessments; hydrological modelling using FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP and other industry-standard tools; consulting with water regulators, statutory bodies and stakeholders; supporting fee proposals and client engagement; mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development.
- Drainage (Civil) Engineering Focus: Delivering drainage strategies (surface water, foul water, SuDS, highway drainage); preparing technical reports and supporting fee proposals; carrying out site walkovers, CCTV investigations and survey oversight; working with statutory authorities and water regulators; managing budgets and timeframes under senior guidance.
About You
- Degree in Geography, Environmental/Earth Sciences or Civil/Environmental Engineering
- 5–7+ years in consultancy (hydrology, flood risk, hydraulic modelling or drainage design)
- Chartered or working towards chartership (C.WEM, CEnv, CEng etc.)
- Leadership experience: mentoring, technical review, project management
- Strong stakeholder/client communication and commercial awareness
- Familiar with UK policy
