Talent STEM is supporting a specialist chemical manufacturing company seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join their close-knit site team. This is a practical, hands-on role in a highly regulated environment where equipment reliability, safety and compliance are critical to production.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance Lead, you will maintain and improve mechanical equipment and site systems to ensure continuous production. You will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, support fault-finding, and help maintain high standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical maintenance and servicing tasks
- Complete task-based risk assessments and maintain compliance with safety procedures
- Collaborate with operations and technical teams to align maintenance priorities
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed efficiently
- Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and continuous improvement
- Undertake additional duties to support site operations
Skills & Experience
- Experience with hazardous materials and awareness of associated risks
- Practical skills with tools, including grinding and welding
- Experience in chemical manufacturing or hazardous area environments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
