An exciting opportunity has arisen for a graduate to join a well-established manufacturing business as a Polymer Technician within its R&D team. This role offers the chance to work on real-world product development projects, supporting the testing and improvement of polymer-based materials used in demanding environments. You will gain hands-on experience across laboratory testing, materials evaluation and formulation work, making this an excellent first role for someone looking to build a career in industrial materials or polymer science.

As part of the R&D team, you will support a range of polymer development and testing activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with testing the performance and durability of polymer materials
  • Supporting laboratory-based projects focused on polymer formulations, additives and pigments
  • Carrying out experiments and accurately recording results
  • Analysing data to help understand material behaviour and performance
  • Preparing clear and concise technical reports
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring testing is carried out safely and efficiently
  • Working closely with R&D, production and quality teams on ongoing projects
  • Supporting continuous improvement of testing methods and processes

We are looking for a motivated graduate who is keen to develop a career in polymers or materials science. You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related discipline
  • Some practical laboratory experience (through university projects, placements or industry)
  • An interest in polymers, materials or manufacturing processes
  • The ability to carry out experiments and interpret results
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A proactive and enthusiastic mindset with a willingness to learn
