Role Overview
Serco is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our FM department at HMP Ashfield, a Category C male establishment prison based in Pucklechurch near Bristol. The role involves carrying out routine HVAC and/or mechanical engineering work, preventative maintenance and repairs, and ensuring maintenance schedules are kept current.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fault finding and defect rectification of installed plant and equipment.
- Assist in multi‑trade support of other FM team members, including plumbing.
- Escort contractors around the site following written procedures.
- Install new plant and apparatus as defined and specified.
- Investigate plant and equipment performance, produce reports and recommendations.
- Maintain knowledge of all operating and maintenance systems and equipment across the premises.
- Adhere to all health & safety considerations on site.
- Participate in call‑out rota, including potential weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification (C&G, NVQ).
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
- Member of a relevant technical professional body preferred.
- Ability to pass CRB and Counter‑Terrorism (CTC) security clearance.
