The Role: We are seeking a Quality Manager or an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to lead the Quality function at our Barnstaple site, a large, complex operation with over 130 machines. This is a key leadership role within a division undergoing significant growth, investment, and transformation. As Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving a culture of excellence across the site. You will own, optimise, and evolve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards, ensuring operational robustness while supporting expansion into automotive and other high-demand markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the site's Quality Team (approx. 5-6 engineers).
- Oversee and continuously improve the Quality Management System to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Plan, design, and conduct internal audits to ensure QMS effectiveness.
- Drive problem-solving initiatives using quality tools, methodologies, and structured approaches (FMEA, root cause analysis).
- Oversee both product quality and supplier quality activities.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Quality Manager, ideally from the automotive sector or supplying into OEM environments.
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, FMEAs, auditing, and problem-solving tools.
- A strong customer-facing mindset - able to engage, influence, and resolve issues confidently.
- Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and upskilling engineering teams.
- Ambition and leadership capability to progress and support the team where required.
