We\’ve got a bag of mystery ingredients and need someone who can turn them into something extraordinary.

Remember \’Ready, Steady, Cook\’? That cooking show where contestants brought mystery ingredients and celebrity chefs had to create restaurant-quality dishes on the spot?

That\’s exactly how I think about recruiting. Every role is a bag of ingredients, and now we need to hire the Chef who can put it all together (or in this case, an Executive Assistant, but bear with me…)

So, let\’s look at what\’s in today\’s bag:

An early-stage investment office launched by an entrepreneur who built something so successful that they decided to create an entirely separate finance business. (We\’re talking \’sell-your-company-and-buy-an-island\’ successful.)

They scoured the earth for a Co-Founder. And found someone extraordinary.

Now that Co-Founder needs their right-hand EA.

But here\’s where it gets interesting.

Yes, you\’ll be managing someone BUSY. Not busy. BUSY. The kind of busy where their calendar looks like Tetris played at warp speed. International travel that would make a pilot dizzy. Decisions that move millions before breakfast.

But that\’s just the starter course.

You\’re going to be the metronome of this entire operation. The person who sets the tempo. Who influences whether Monday morning feels like possibility or prison.

You\’ll be the hub everything flows through. The one who spots the problem three moves ahead. Who organises drinks after the wins and knows exactly when the team needs to decompress.

The person who turns chaos into choreography.

Here\’s who thrives in this role:

You\’ve got the academic sharpness to keep up with financial minds who think in derivatives and decimals. (Degree helpful but not essential – street smarts with book smarts are the sweet spot.)

Your CV shows loyalty. Not job-hopping. You see things through even when they get messy, especially when they get messy.

You fix problems nobody else has noticed yet. Run events like you\’re directing a symphony. Take on whatever needs doing because the title is less important than the impact.

You\’ve ideally worked in small finance environments where everything moves at light speed and \’that\’s not my job\’ isn\’t in the vocabulary.

But most importantly?

You want to cook.

Not just follow recipes. Not just prep ingredients. But take that bag of mystery components and create something nobody saw coming.
