Solution Architect (5G)

Interim Solution Architect – 5G Upgrade Programme This contract is outside IR35 and the business follows a hybrid pattern with requirement to be in the office 1-day per week. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solution Architect to join a major UK transport and infrastructure organisation on an interim basis. You will play a key role in supporting a large-scale 5G upgrade programme, which has recently been divided into two streams: public and private. This role will focus specifically on the private 5G workstream, helping to shape and assure technical solutions that will underpin critical operational services. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience across mobile technologies and adjacent domains, with the ability to work closely with engineering, operations, and programme teams to guide the design, integration, and delivery of robust, scalable solutions. You will be comfortable operating in complex, high-stakes environments and able to provide clear architectural leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the architectural design for the private 5G upgrade workstream * Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure solutions meet requirements * Provide assurance, guidance, and technical oversight across the programme * Support integration of mobile and related technologies into existing infrastructures * Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, standards, and governance Skills & Experience: * Proven experience as a Solution Architect in mobile or telecommunications environments * Strong knowledge of 5G, mobile networks, and adjacent technologies * Experience working on large, complex infrastructure or digital transformation programmes * Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders If you are a hands-on architect with strong telecoms expertise and are looking for your next interim assignment, we would love to hear from you
