We are seeking an experienced Lead Architect / Advisory Expert to take control of a technical rescue and recovery of a D365 implementation. Role Overview This role will act as a senior technical advisor and rescue lead for the D365 rollout. You will work closely with the internal IT leadership team, business stakeholders, and external system integrators to assess, challenge, and remediate the current solution design and implementation. Your primary focus will be to regain control of the programme, mitigate technical risk, and create a recovery roadmap that sets the business back on track. Key Responsibilities * Lead a comprehensive review of the existing D365 solution architecture, integrations, and technical documentation. * Challenge and manage incumbent vendors and system integrators to ensure accountability, transparency, and delivery against contractual obligations. * Identify architectural gaps, poor design choices, performance bottlenecks, and non-compliant configurations. * Define and deliver a clear, prioritised technical rescue action plan including quick wins and longer-term remediation steps. * Act as a trusted advisor to the CIO and Programme Director, translating technical risks into business impact. * Ensure alignment of architecture with business processes, data strategy, and user experience goals. * Oversee governance and change control processes relating to architecture and integration decisions. * Support internal teams in rebuilding confidence in the programme through clear technical leadership. * Provide ongoing assurance and recommendations throughout the stabilisation and recovery phase. Essential Skills & Experience * Proven experience rescuing or recovering troubled Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations / CE) programmes, ideally within the travel, leisure, retail, or service industries. * Deep technical expertise in D365 architecture, including integrations, data models, extensions, customisations, and security. * Experience working in an advisory or lead architect role, ideally on behalf of the client (not vendor). * Strong vendor management skills – able to challenge constructively and hold delivery partners to account. * Ability to review and critique solution design documentation and technical specifications. * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills – able to influence at CIO/Board level. * A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
