It is the difference between participation and exclusion. This role is for the Physical Therapist who understands that and brings their full skill set to a school setting every day.

A school in Livingston, New Jersey is looking for a Physical Therapist for a maternity leave contract running from September 8, 2026 through February 2027. You will work with high school students with physical disabilities in a school based setting, helping them access their education and build functional independence.

What you will be doing:

  • Conducting comprehensive physical therapy evaluations covering gross motor skills, mobility, strength, balance, coordination and functional performance
  • Developing individualized treatment plans aligned with students' IEP goals
  • Providing direct and consultative PT services in individual and small group settings
  • Collaborating with teachers, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and other multidisciplinary team members
  • Recommending and monitoring adaptive equipment, mobility devices and seating systems
  • Educating school staff and families on therapeutic strategies and positioning techniques
  • Maintaining documentation in compliance with IDEA, state regulations and district policies

What you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active New Jersey Physical Therapist license
  • Experience working with students with physical disabilities, neurological disorders or developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of special education law, IDEA and IEP development
  • School based pediatric experience preferred
  • Ability to assist students with transfers, positioning, lifting and mobility

This is a maternity leave contract from September 8, 2026 through February 2027. Six hours a day, five days a week in Livingston, New Jersey.
