Group Service Engineer (Field & Site)
Location: Oxfordshire/Home Counties – Travel to Midlands and Cornwall as required.
Overnight stays paid for by the business.
Package: Dependent on experience (£60-80k salary plus overtime) plus company vehicle
The Opportunity & Business:
This is a new role that is designed to provide all 5 UK printing manufacturing sites with both planned and reactive Senior level Engineer to support their 24/7 manufacturing activities to maintain time sensitive and high-volume production in a complex manufacturing environment.
This is a role that is all about achieving efficient planned maintenance/servicing interventions, trouble-shooting and resolving more difficult and longer-standing faults and technically supporting each site to improve their production performance.
This role is intended to support existing on-site Shift Engineer and Electricians activities in order to release them to work through regular servicing and breakdowns knowing there is a specialist engineering team backing them up where needed.
The role isnt glamorous or high profile, but it is critical, and we believe with your support and experience there is a great deal of satisfaction and financial reward possible in fulfilling this role effectively and doing a good job.
We know this will be a challenging role and will require you to be able to work under time pressure. It will be physically challenging at times as is inevitable when working on industrial production equipment, although safety will always be paramount.
However, the camaraderie amongst Engineering Technicians and Operators always makes the work more enjoyable with the satisfaction of achieving a positive result together.

The Role:
- Responsible for supporting on site Engineering teams across 5 print manufacturing sites.
- Acting as Senior Engineer (Electrically biased) supporting Reactive and Preventative Maintenance.
- On Call Engineering support only in serious emergencies, delivering Engineering projects, planning and supporting Operational teams.
- Providing hands on Technical Engineering Assistance to all UK manufacturing sites.
- Fault diagnosis and repair, continuous improvement project/task work, ordering of spares and reviewing/checking designs and drawing on installation projects
Experience:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 Electrically qualified and 18th Edition
- Minimum 5+ years recent experience working in large scale Print or Packaging, Automation and Manufacturing environments.
- Good experience fault finding and providing effective engineering solutions within an electrically-biased print, finishing or packaging manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with PLCs, as well as Drives and PCBs.
The person:
- Experienced Senior Engineer with good hands-on electrical engineering skills
- Comfortable working in large scale industrial manufacturing environments
- Comfortable working to lead/support small Engineering teams
- Happy working in a mixed Field-based and site support role, with regular travel across the UK to manufacturing sites.
- Comfortable working away from home or at weekends as the role requires.
- Proactive and active Engineer with good communication skills that is adaptable and objective driven.
- Good report writing skills, to help identify areas for improvement and change.
- Preparedness to mentor and support the development of Junior Engineers and Apprentices in the future.
