We are working with a large pan-European manufacturing business which operates 7 days a week that is actively seeking to add an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Electrician to join one of its site Manufacturing Engineering Support teams.

Shift Engineer 40 hours per week - Double or Triple Shift or Permanent Nights (plus overtime)

Location: Nr Eastbourne, Sussex

Salary: Dependent on Experience

The position's responsibilities are:

  • Reactive Maintenance on automated production, printing, packaging or finishing machinery
  • Pre-planned Maintenance (PPM) - Input to and carry out preventive maintenance routines
  • Mechanical fault finding
  • Electrical fault finding with and without diagrams (three phase and control systems)
  • Fault finding and repair on hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Small installation projects
  • Continuous Improvement to maintain optimal machine efficiency
  • To keep clean any areas in which you are working, including transit areas to and from the workshop, the workshop and stores
  • Support the Operations team in achieving targets
  • Complying to the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Contributing to cost effective technical solutions
  • Deliver to the operational expectations
  • Be part of a weekend call-out rota

To be successful, we would like you to have:

  • A recognised industrial Electrical qualification 18th Edition and Level 3 Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or as a dedicated Multiskilled or Electrical Engineer in a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the print, packaging or associated industries would be great but is not essential. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment is critical.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skill in particular on PLCs, drives and inverters
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams
  • Experience with maintenance PPM and RM programmes
  • Ideally experience working with highly skilled Operators or Technicians
  • Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation, ability to apply initiative and determination

Specific training where required will be provided, OEM suppliers and via remote modem diagnostic support from the OEM. This is a great opportunity to join a leading manufacturer in a key maintenance engineering role working on large scale machinery in a time-sensitive manufacturing environment.
