Talent-Relay has partnered with a global leader in the financial services sector to urgently onboard an experienced Golang Engineer into an established technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level Golang Engineer to work on a modern, global customer platform, developing scalable microservices and APIs within a collaborative Agile environment.
The successful Golang Engineer will be involved in designing, developing and enhancing modern microservice-based applications, working closely with other Software Engineers, QA teams and SREs to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. The initial contract is for 5 months, with extensions highly likely as part of a long-term, multi-year programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrable experience as a Golang Engineer within a commercial environment.
- Design, develop, test and maintain backend applications using Golang.
- Build and enhance scalable, resilient microservices and REST APIs.
- Develop solutions supporting high-volume customer-facing applications.
- Work with messaging technologies such as Kafka / RabbitMQ and asynchronous services.
- Contribute to the migration and modernisation of legacy applications.
- Work collaboratively within an Agile/Scrum development team.
- Develop automated unit, integration and functional tests.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
- Collaborate with Development, QA, SRE and Production Support teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Commercial experience developing software using Golang / Go.
- Experience developing backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Strong experience with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with messaging technologies, ideally Kafka.
- Understanding of TDD, BDD and automated testing.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A genuine interest in learning new technologies and developing technical skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Java or another backend programming language.
- Experience with gRPC or GraphQL.
- Experience working with cloud technologies.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
