We are seeking an experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with ASC to join a friendly primary school in Rochdale on a temporary basis until the end of the current academic year. This role involves supporting young people with Autism (ASC), helping them to access learning and develop socially and emotionally within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with Autism
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
  • Encourage independence, communication, and positive social interaction

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC)
  • Experience managing or supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow school policies

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEND, or behaviour support
