Talent Precision Group is supporting a well-established, owner-led business in Nottingham in the appointment of a Financial Controller. This role focuses on financial control, stock and inventory oversight, commercial reporting, forecasting, and operational finance leadership within a fast-paced, import-led environment. Reporting directly to the business owners and senior leadership team, the position offers significant exposure across operations, supply chain, stock management, and commercial decision-making, alongside a clear pathway toward a future Finance Director position.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Oversight and execution of day-to-day financial control activities
  • Preparation and review of monthly management accounts and reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Management and oversight of stock and inventory reporting processes
  • Monitoring stock rotation, margin performance, and operational reporting accuracy
  • Business partnering across operations, supply chain, and commercial teams
  • Leadership and development of the finance function
  • Review and improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting workflows
  • Support operational and strategic decision-making through financial analysis
  • Driving financial visibility and reporting accuracy across the business

Candidate Profile

  • ACA, ACCA, CMA or CIMA qualified preferred
  • Experience within stock-led, operationally focused environments
  • Background in wholesale, FMCG, manufacturing, distribution, or import-led businesses advantageous
  • Strong financial control and management reporting capability
  • Commercially minded with strong operational awareness
  • Hands-on leadership style with willingness to operate close to the detail
  • Strong systems and ERP knowledge within inventory-led environments
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
  • Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced and evolving business environments
  • Interest in long-term progression and leadership development
