About the company

A fast-growing B2C business are searching for a VP of Engineering to spearhead their transition into a tech -first organisation, driving the mission of simplifying people's everyday lives through innovative technology.

They have experienced massive growth over the last few years, growing 300% YOY, and as they look to the future the next 3-5 years are pivotal for them as they aggressively grow and take more market share with the end goal to exit.

This truly is an exciting role that presents so much growth, there are 28.4 Million households in the UK which presents a massive opportunity to change and disrupt the utilities industry. As their first senior higher in technology you will have a huge impact on how this is achieved and be rewarded with equity which could be in the region of £2-3 Million (maybe more!).

The role:

In order to continue growth plans and provide the best customer experience they have to diversify and begin partnering with providers who will integrate their service into their platform, for this to happen they must branch out and scale their engineering, product and data teams. To do this they need to hire a VP of Engineering.

This is a heavily strategic position, you will own Engineering, Product and Data, a key part of your role will be to build a new platform from scratch, which you and the team will design and implement.

This role requires you to have strong commercial agility, with the ability to make decisions considering financial impacts and growth implications with the end goal in mind. They need an innovative VP of Eng who can look at the current tech stack and consider what is possible, thinking about future solutions.

In your first 6 months; you will build a technical strategy, gain clarity with the business vision, and provide insights as to what is possible. Working with the team you will help design a value proposition and strategy.

What we need from you

  1. As a huge element of this role is to build a new platform from scratch so you will need a strong Engineering background and Architecture experience
  2. As they look to expand and pivot their offering it is essential to have experience working in a B2C environment, where data has been used to enhance customer experience and drive sales
  3. They are a fast-moving start-up/scale-up with the usual challenges this brings so experience in B2C Startup/scale-up with strong resilience and adaptability is crucial
  4. For this transformation to a tech first business, you will own Product so experience working in with Product & Digital Transformations would be highly beneficial
  5. Lastly as the continue to grow they need someone with proven experience in growing and scaling technology teams and functions.
