We are partnering with a PE-backed SaaS company as they prepare for their next phase of growth and an eventual exit. To support this journey, we are looking to hire an experienced General Counsel (GC) / Chief Legal Officer to take ownership of the legal function and play a key role in shaping the business for the future.
The role
Reporting directly to the COO/CEO, this position offers both strategic and hands-on responsibility. You will ensure that legal risk is well managed while supporting the commercial growth of the company. This includes ensuring contracts with suppliers and customers are robust, compliant, and commercially balanced, as well as providing support for upcoming M&A and due diligence processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead all in-house legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of supplier and customer agreements.
- Managing and developing a global legal team of 15.
- Advise the CEO and leadership team on risk and decision-making.
- Support the business in preparing for due diligence as part of Investment strategy.
- Build trusted relationships with both internal stakeholders and external counsel.
- Balance commercial pragmatism with legal rigour in a fast-moving environment.
Candidate profile:
- Qualified lawyer with proven in-house legal leadership experience.
- Strong commercial contracting expertise.
- Previous exposure to M&A or investment activity; ideally having gone through a successful PE exit.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with gravitas to influence senior executives.
- Pragmatic, resilient, and able to bring structure and calm to complex situations.
