We are seeking a Costs Draftsman with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in drafting all types of fast track Bill of Costs, Schedules & N260 – Statement of Costs. It would be beneficial to have knowledge of phasing and an understanding of the Costs Management process. The candidate will be proficient in the understanding of litigation & hold a good understanding of the case management process before a case arrives in Costs. In addition, it will be a benefit if the candidate has experience in issuing Part 8 proceedings.
As a member of Your Legal Costs, you need to be dedicated, motivated with the ability to organise your workload to meet tight deadlines. You will report to your team leader within the Drafting Department and assist in delivering a first-class service to our customers both within and outside of Your Legal Costs.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Understanding of litigation & case management
- Preparing & serving Fast Track schedules & Bills
- Preparing Fixed Costs schedules, Bills & Part 8 documentation
- Good understanding of relevant CPR
- Communicating with clients/customers both written and verbally
- Any other duties as reasonably required by the business to assist you in your development
- Training of less experienced staff
- A good understanding in the following case types:
- Housing Disrepair
- Undisclosed commissions and other finance claims
- Personal injury
- CWI
- Clinical Negligence
- Commercial Litigation
- Catastrophic Injury
- Industrial Disease
- Noise Induced Hearing Loss
- Serious RTA
- Holiday Claims
Person Specification:
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of drafting standard Bill of Costs
- Knowledge of Proclaim
- Proficient in the use of Costs Master
- Excel literate to a good standard
- Working effectively within a team
- Managing a workload of multiple categories
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance
- An understanding of and desire to learn the Costs Management process including phasing
