Want to stay in Electrical Building Services Design but looking for a move away from the pressure, tight deadlines, and long hours of a typical Design Consultancy? Then it is worth considering a career move into one of the world’s leading and most respected Property Consultancies.
As an ambitious Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will already know how to design and manage projects and build rapport quickly with a project team. You may not be unhappy in your current role; however, you may be starting to consider your longer-term career options as you feel that your skills are not being fully utilised, overworked and undervalued within your current practice.
Over the past 8 years this global Property Consultancy has developed its own internal M&E Design Consultancy to meet and deliver M&E Design & Project Management to their clients, who in the main, are the owners and occupiers of the largest real estate estates portfolios in the world.
Uniquely, they have access to their own client base and do not have to competitively tender for projects, resulting in a less pressurised environment and providing the financial resources to recruit into the M&E team when needed rather than expecting employees to shoulder more pressure and work excessive hours.
Essentially, a client-side role that will give you direct access to clients, working on the client’s behalf as part of the client team as the client’s representative. Offering you direct access to clients thinking and an unprecedented insight into the clients psyche and the drivers behind commercial property ownership.
Offering absolute career stability and with growth in mind, due to their success, this global Commercial Property Consultancy has a clear three-year plan to grow their M&E offering by 50% over the next three years, opening up a huge ongoing career opportunity for you.
You’ll deepen your understanding of Electrical Design by working client-side in the commercial property sector and access to this experience will set you apart from your peers in Design Consultancy.
With an established team of experienced M&E Engineers, from which to continue your learning and development. There is structured training to CEng and a clear route to progress to Senior level and beyond.
What you’ll need:
- An in-depth knowledge of Building Services practices, procedures, and standards with particular focus on full Electrical Buildings Services Design and Project Management.
- A passion for decarbonisation and design of Net Zero systems.
- Knowledge of the BIM process and the built environment would be advantageous.
- The ability to work as part of a team or autonomously, with excellent team skills and strong attention to detail.
What’s in it for you:
As a key player within the MEP division, you’ll be designing, leading and supervising varied and interesting projects across a broad range of high-profile Commercial Buildings and have full autonomy to implement your innovative designs.
Not only supported by the M&E team and the Partner, you will also benefit educationally from working closely with the other in-house disciplines across Project Management, Building Surveying and M&E Asset Management. You will be supported in delivering and leading projects where MEP is crucial to the success of the project and enjoy knowing that your designs are helping future-proof low energy buildings for future generations.
You will be expected to design, manage, and supervise projects coordinating with other engineering and real estate disciplines. Carry out detailed design in accordance with industry guides. Prepare specifications, reports, design drawings and budget costs to programme. Supervise project works on site, workmanship and testing.
You will also learn how to undertake professional M&E Technical Due Diligence surveys, dilapidations, and audits/reports.
Benefits:
As well as an opportunity to work client-side and set yourself apart from all of your peers in Design Consultancy, you will be offered an enjoyable work-life balance, a competitive salary, car allowance, significant annual bonus, 12% contributory pension and a host of other flexible package options.
With staff development and retention at the core of its values, they have always promoted from within and have one of the best levels of employee engagement in the industry.
Rather than being micromanaged, you’ll enjoy working autonomously, either at home or in the office – you decide on what works for you, whilst being fully supported by the M&E Partner at every step.
