Are you a technically minded sales professional who thrives on turning enquiries into orders? We are partnering with a well-established and growing specialist engineering business to find a Sales Engineer who can own the proposals process from first enquiry through to confirmed order. This isn’t a cold-calling role. You’ll be working with warm, inbound enquiries, interpreting technical requirements, crafting competitive proposals, and building the kind of client relationships that generate repeat business year after year.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Handle incoming enquiries and turn them around into accurate, competitive quotations
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships across defined territories
- Prepare and present proposals, electronically and occasionally face-to-face
- Follow up on quotes and actively work to improve conversion rates
- Identify upsell opportunities and contribute to business growth
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure every order is commercially sound and technically deliverable
- Support pricing reviews and contribute to customer agreements
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be comfortable in both a technical conversation and a commercial one. Specifically, we’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in a technical sales or engineering environment (or looking to step into this role)
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (is desirable)
- Commercial awareness, where you understand margin and know how to protect it
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build lasting client relationships
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach, you follow things through and don’t let opportunities go cold
- An HNC or equivalent engineering qualification is a bonus, but relevant hands-on experience matters just as much.
