Talent Media is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing precision engineering company based in Coatbridge. Following continued business growth, our client is looking for skilled CNC millers and turners with Mazak and/or Fanuc experience. This opportunity would suit someone who can operate CNC machinery independently with minimal supervision, although higher rates are available for experienced machinists who can programme as well as set and operate. Experienced Chargehands and multi-disciplined machinists are also encouraged to apply.
The role
- Set and operate CNC milling or turning machinery safely and efficiently
- Produce high-quality precision components from engineering drawings
- Load programmes, select tooling, set offsets and make adjustments
- Programme CNC machinery where required and within your experience
- Complete in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment
- Identify and resolve machining, tooling and quality issues
- Maintain high standards of quality, traceability, housekeeping and safety
- Work closely with production, engineering and quality colleagues
What we're looking for
- Previous CNC milling or turning experience
- Mazak and/or Fanuc experience
- Ability to operate CNC machinery independently with little supervision
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working accurately to tight tolerances
- Knowledge of tooling, workholding, offsets and machining processes
- A reliable, safety-conscious and quality-focused approach
- Programming experience is particularly desirable for the higher-paid positions
- Previous Chargehand, supervisory or team-support experience would be advantageous, but applications are also welcomed from technically strong machinists ready to take that next step.
Pay structure
- Level 1 CNC Operator: £19.15 per hour Able to operate a CNC machine independently with little supervision. This is not a trainee rate.
- Experienced CNC Operator: £21.25 per hour
- Chargehand: £22.30 per hour, including the £1.05 Chargehand allowance
- The final rate will be based on your machinery, control-system and programming experience.
Shift patterns
- You will work 39 hours per week on one of the following patterns:
- Monday to Wednesday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Thursday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Tuesday to Thursday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 pm - 7:00 am, and Thursday, 6:00 pm - 3:30 am
Each working day includes a 30-minute unpaid break. Flexible or part-time arrangements may also be considered where they meet the needs of the role.
Additional earning potential
- Night-shift hours receive a 33% uplift on the basic hourly rate for up to 39 hours
- Authorised overtime is paid at time and a half
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts are currently paid at double time as a temporary arrangement, subject to business requirements
- Overtime opportunities may be available but are not guaranteed
