We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative software for large-scale, mission critical programmes. This is an opportunity to work on complex technical challenges where you'll have genuine influence over architecture, engineering standards and the products you build.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing modern, scalable applications across the full technology stack. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product teams and customers to build intuitive user experiences, resilient backend services and robust integrations with wider enterprise systems. This is a hands-on engineering position with real ownership, where you'll help define technical direction while mentoring others and driving engineering excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and building full stack applications from frontend through to backend and database
- Developing modern web applications using Angular, Java and SQL technologies
- Creating APIs and integrations with enterprise platforms and external systems
- Building secure, scalable and maintainable software with quality built in from day one
- Working with event-driven architectures and near real-time data where appropriate
- Improving CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability and engineering best practices
- Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to shape requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
- Mentoring fellow engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture
Key Experience Required
You'll be an experienced software engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving challenging technical problems. You'll ideally have experience with:
- Full stack software development in commercial environments
- Angular or another modern TypeScript frontend framework
- Java backend development
- SQL databases and API development
- System integration and enterprise application development
- CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices
- Software architecture and scalable system design
- Agile delivery and collaborative development practices
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who:
- Enjoys working through ambiguity and solving complex problems
- Communicates confidently with both technical and business stakeholders
- Takes pride in writing clean, maintainable code
- Cares about user experience as much as technical quality
- Supports and mentors other engineers
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be UK Nationals and eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). Candidates already holding active SC clearance are encouraged to apply.
