Senior Systems Engineer – Defence
Bristol (Hybrid) | £45,000–£65,000 + Benefits | SC Clearance (or eligible to obtain)
Are you interested in the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most advanced defence systems and technologies?
Do you have the engineering expertise and drive to support the delivery of mission-critical programmes for the MOD?
If so, we are seeking for Systems Engineers to support on high-profile MOD programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and integration of complex systems across Land, Air, Maritime, Joint and Digital domains.
You will be the person who helps to make sure complex defence systems are designed the right way, meet the right requirements, and work as expected — safely, reliably, and effectively.
About the Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will be involved across the full systems engineering lifecycle—from requirements capture and system architecture through to integration and testing and delivery. You will also work closely with stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into technical solutions that meet demanding performance and compliance standards.
In addition, you will be supporting the delivery of some of the UK’s most strategically important defence programmes. These projects involve complex systems and technologies that require rigorous engineering discipline, adaptability, and a strong understanding of defence environments. Your input will help shape system designs that not only technically sound but are also operationally effective, secure, reliable and future-ready.

To be successful with your application, you\’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
Technical expertise in an engineering discipline (e.g. Systems, Sensors & Electronics, Electrical, Communications, Electronic Warfare, Radar, Systems & Integration)
A depth and breadth of technical experience in own specialism with knowledge and application of Systems Engineering approaches.
Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
Have experience of stakeholder management at all levels.
Experience within the defence sector or working directly with any other Government Departments is highly desirable.
