Swindon £45-£60k + private healthcare, pension and stock options on site and flexibility around hours (roughly 9-5). Advanced composites manufacturing is evolving quickly, but very few businesses are genuinely pushing beyond the limitations of traditional processes. This is to join a growing engineering and manufacturing team developing advanced composite structures for aerospace, defence and high-performance engineering applications. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on and highly collaborative, suited to someone who enjoys solving manufacturing challenges and improving processes continuously.
Working across production, quality and engineering teams, you'll play a key role in refining and optimising composite manufacturing processes, ensuring products move efficiently from development into production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and improving composite manufacturing processes including layup, cure cycles and trimming operations
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation including method sheets, routings and BOMs
- Supporting quality investigations, MRB activity and corrective actions
- Working closely with design and production teams to improve manufacturability and process consistency
- Training production staff on processes, materials and best practice
- Supporting equipment installation, commissioning and manufacturing scale-up activity
- Driving continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across the factory
You'll need strong experience within advanced composites manufacturing, ideally within aerospace, defence, automotive or similarly regulated industries. A solid understanding of carbon fibre manufacturing, autoclave processing and composite process optimisation is important, alongside experience working within AS9100 or equivalent quality standards. The role suits someone comfortable working in a scale-up manufacturing environment where ownership, adaptability and hands-on problem solving are valued highly. Experience with automated fibre placement, ERP systems or manufacturing scale-up activity would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available. For engineers who want to work on genuinely advanced composite technology and have visible impact on manufacturing capability and process development, this is a rare opportunity to join a business scaling at pace.
