Join a leading provider of digital solutions as an Infrastructure Applications Architect, taking a hands-on leadership role in shaping the technical direction of infrastructure applications. This growth hire offers the chance to lead a team delivering robust, secure systems and drive the design, build, and integration of applications across VMware infrastructure stacks. Ensure seamless operation of both MOD and generic applications, while applying Secure by Design standards. This is not a purely design role; you’ll roll up your sleeves, guide your team through implementation, and directly influence system delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and architecture of infrastructure applications and systems.
- Collaborate closely with the customer to understand business and operational requirements.
- Translate requirements into robust, scalable architectural solutions, ensuring MOD and generic applications integrate effectively.
- Actively participate in the build and implementation phase, supporting the team to deploy and configure applications.
- Produce and maintain all design documentation and supporting paperwork in line with Secure by Design standards.
- Lead, guide, and mentor a small team of engineers and developers.
- Foster a collaborative culture, encouraging problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
- Provide constructive feedback, helping team members develop technically and professionally.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, to scope, and with high quality.
- Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage risks and proactively address challenges that may impact project delivery.
Essential experience
- Proven infrastructure background with experience in VMware stacks.
- Experience architecting applications onto infrastructure platforms.
- Strong understanding of MOD applications and how they interact with generic applications.
- Hands-on leadership experience - able to lead a team and be actively involved in builds.
- Comfortable taking a self-starter approach and driving delivery independently.
- Experience producing technical documentation and designs.
- Knowledge and experience applying Secure by Design (SbD) principles.
Desirable
- Some leadership or team management experience.
- Experience in highly secure or sensitive environments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
