Talent Locker are pleased to be partnering with a leading defence and technology organisation supporting MOD and Military customers, recruiting for a Systems Administrator. As the System Administrator, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and supporting the technical infrastructure of a high-profile programme. You will ensure system reliability, maintain strong security protocols and manage regular patching and maintenance routines across multiple environments. This position requires a proactive approach, strong technical ability, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor system performance and respond proactively to alerts through Elastic monitoring tools
  • Ensure network connectivity and infrastructure supporting the programme remain reliable and fully operational
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments using tools such as Nessus
  • Review and act upon outputs from the SOC to maintain system integrity and compliance
  • Implement firewall upgrades and configuration updates within the programme infrastructure
  • Manage windows server update services (WSUS) for controlled patch deployment
  • Maintain Linux repositories and oversee patching cycles across pre production and production environments

Relevant Experience

  • Proven experience in system administration in a similar environment
  • Familiarity with elastic monitoring, Nessus scanning and SOC workflows
  • Hands on experience with patching tools and firewall management
  • Proficient with both Linux and Windows Server
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of network protocols and cyber security principles
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security, Microsoft certified, azure administrator or similar

This position is based in Farnborough and although there will some flexibility to allow hybrid working, you should be willing to attend site 3-5 days per week as required. It is an essential requirement to hold current UK SC clearance and to be willing and eligible for UK DV Clearance.
