Talent Locker is pleased to be partnered with a leading technology consultancy to appoint a Defence BDM to spearhead growth within the Defence business unit. This opportunity will offer the Business Development Manager the chance to shape new client relationships and drive sales for a company renowned for delivering tangible, technically complex solutions.
You will be responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities across the UK defence ecosystem by building relationships with defence primes, government customers, and key industry partners driving forward next generation defence technologies. This is a highly visible, hands on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast moving, technically driven environment and enjoys building long term relationships.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading business development activity across the defence sector, focusing on generating new relationships and revenue streams.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities with organisations delivering advanced physical technologies and systems.
- Translating complex technical capabilities into compelling value propositions.
- Working closely with internal teams to shape proposals, bids, and project concepts aligned to customer needs.
- Representing the business at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to build credibility and expand networks.
- Managing the full business development lifecycle, including identifying opportunities, contract negotiation, and delivery.
What experience do you need:
- Strong track record in business development, sales, or account management within the UK defence sector.
- Confident engaging senior decision-makers within defence primes, government, and research establishments.
- Minimum of a BSc in a science, engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Natural ability to build relationships and outstanding communication skills; able to engage both technical experts and commercial leaders.
- A curious mind, always looking to uncover and convert opportunities, and confident operating in varied environments.
This position can be based in Cambridgeshire or Surrey and will require some travel (approximately 25%). It is an essential requirement for the successful applicant to be eligible for UK SC clearance.
