Job Description

Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking Senior Quantity Surveyors to join their team in Watford\\n\\nQuantity Surveyors play a key role within project delivery teams, supporting day-to-day commercial management across a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on cost control, contractual compliance, risk management, and driving commercial efficiency while supporting business and project objectives.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\n * \\n\\n Provide accurate and timely cost, value, cash flow, and CVR reporting at project and business unit level.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Manage cost forecasting, budgeting, and commercial planning throughout the project lifecycle.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Prepare and submit applications for payment, manage cash recovery, and support final account settlement.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Procure, manage, and commercially administer subcontractors and the wider supply chain.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Administer and manage contracts and subcontracts (including NEC and IChemE forms), ensuring compliance and risk control.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Identify, record, and realise commercial opportunities while mitigating financial and contractual risks.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Liaise with clients, representatives, and third parties on commercial matters, including variations, claims, and change control.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Support project teams by advising on cost management, efficiencies, and best practice.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Forecast expenditure and cash recovery to align with business unit expectations.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Build and maintain effective relationships with the supply chain and key stakeholders.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, governance, and reporting requirements.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing commercial processes and procedures.\\n\\nRequired Experiences\\n\\n * \\n\\n Previous experience in the construction industry\\n\\n * \\n\\n Familiarity with IChemE/ NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law\\n\\n * \\n\\n Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations\\n\\n * \\n\\n Demonstrable experience in monthly forecasting and cost analysis.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office\\n\\n * \\n\\n Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines\\n\\nDesirable\\n\\n * \\n\\n Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards\\n\\n * \\n\\n CSCS card\\n\\n * \\n\\n HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying\\n\\n * \\n\\n Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation\\n\\n * \\n\\n Experience working for a direct delivery contractor\\n\\n * \\n\\n An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills
