Our client, a specialist contractor delivering complex infrastructure and engineering projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a major project.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely cost, value, and cash flow reports at both project and business levels.
- Manage cost control activities, including forecasting, performance tracking, and variance analysis against actuals.
- Maintain and update monthly cost-to-complete reports, commercial plans, and rolling final accounts, taking shared accountability for overall commercial performance.
- Monitor and report on applications, early warnings, change events, quotations, claims, and disputes, providing clear visibility of project commercial status.
- Ensure commercial and contractual processes are followed and continuously improved across the project and internal teams.
- Lead subcontract procurement activities, including tendering, negotiation, financial administration, and timely assessment and payment of supply chain and consultant liabilities.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks within main contracts and supply chain agreements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the wider project team, including managing challenging commercial discussions when required.
- Support and supervise junior commercial team members, providing guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day oversight.
- Promote collaboration between commercial, finance, procurement, design, engineering, and site delivery teams.
- Share knowledge, best practice, and lessons learned across projects to drive consistency and efficiency within the business.
Requirements
- Proven ability to deliver accurate and timely monthly valuations, forecasts, and final accounts.
- Strong understanding of change management processes, including early warnings, variations, compensation events, and claims.
- Ability to maintain contract re-measurement in line with agreed methodologies and commercial controls.
- Demonstrated capability in managing rolling final accounts and monitoring shared or financial risks.
- Confidence to positively challenge project delivery strategies, methodologies, resource levels, and cost assumptions.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines aligned to monthly commercial reporting cycles.
- Effective communication skills to manage internal and external relationships at all levels.
