A leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team around Hampshire.

Responsibilities of Managing Quantity Surveyor:

  • Provide accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels
  • Draft and update monthly CVRs, cost and commercial plans, and cash flow reports
  • Compile upstream applications for payment through to final account settlement
  • Manage subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial accounting
  • Liaise with clients and third parties on commercial issues including contractual change, claims, and additional payment
  • Effectively manage contract and subcontract agreements, primarily IChemE and NEC forms
  • Ensure supply chain is engaged with correct contract terms and conditions, maintaining strong relationships
  • Support all internal commercial processes, ensuring adherence to timeframes and compliance
  • Identify and realise commercial opportunities whilst protecting the business from commercial risk
  • Share best practice and proactively advise site teams on cost management and efficiencies

Essential Requirements for Managing Quantity Surveyor:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry in a commercial role
  • Familiarity with IChemE and NEC forms of contract and knowledge of Construction Law
  • Proven experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement
  • Demonstrable experience of monthly forecasting and cost analysis
  • Excellent communication, numerical, and IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisation and time management skills

Desirable:

  • Member of RICS or working towards
  • CSCS card
  • HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience working for a direct delivery contractor
  • Knowledge and experience in estimation
