A leading infrastructure and engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Head of HSE to provide leadership across regional operations. This role will focus on driving a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with HSE management systems, and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and support regional HSE teams, providing clear direction and technical guidance.
- Champion HSE strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and legal requirements.
- Oversee HSE performance, including reporting, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, acting as the key HSE representative.
- Promote occupational health, wellbeing, and a positive safety culture across all operations.
- Ensure effective incident management, including investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
- Support the development and maintenance of HSE systems, procedures, and training programmes.
- Conduct site visits and leadership audits to ensure standards are consistently met.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum; IOSH membership desirable.
- Environmental qualification such as CEnv or equivalent (ISEP affiliation advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and management systems within infrastructure or engineering environments.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop and mentor high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- CSCS Safety Professional card.
Desirable:
- Experience within civil engineering or major infrastructure sectors (e.g. rail).
- Formal incident investigation training (e.g. Kelvin TOP-SET or equivalent).
