Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor specialising in infrastructure and water sector projects, is currently looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Act as a key commercial point of contact for specialist subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support on contractual and commercial matters throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure contracts are administered in line with company procedures and commercial objectives.
  • Assist in protecting the company’s commercial position through effective contract management and risk mitigation.
  • Provide regular updates to senior commercial leadership regarding subcontractor performance and project commercial status.
  • Support the pricing, assessment, and negotiation of project variations and compensation events across multiple work scopes.
  • Monitor and manage project costs to ensure expenditure remains within approved budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports, valuations, and financial forecasts.
  • Support procurement and subcontract package management activities, including tender reviews and contract administration.
  • Carry out quantity measurement and valuation of completed works.
  • Prepare projected final account reports, including tracking the status of variations and commercial changes in collaboration with project teams.
  • Contribute to work-in-progress reporting and financial performance reviews.
  • Assist in managing allocated commercial resources and ensuring value-driven project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies relating to health & safety, sustainability, equality, environmental standards, and data protection requirements.

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
  • Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience working with NEC contracts, particularly NEC3 and NEC4 Option C.
  • Effective negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads independently and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident preparing and presenting commercial information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
