Senior ServiceNow Developer (Contract)

Role Type: Contract

Location: Remote

Assignment Length: 6 months

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Are you a seasoned ServiceNow Developer who thrives on turning complex platform challenges into streamlined, automated realities? We are seeking a ServiceNow Developer on a Time and Materials basis to champion the optimization of Ofsted's ServiceNow platform. This is a highly collaborative role where you will not only build and deliver high-value technical solutions but also empower our internal teams through proactive knowledge transfer.

Your immediate flagship project will be to architect, plan, and execute the live rollout of ServiceNow's Automated Test Framework (ATF), paving the way for seamless future upgrades and robust platform resilience.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will work at the direction of the internal delivery team, adapting to shifting program priorities as we evolve. Core activities include:

  • ATF Strategy and Delivery: Define the high-level implementation plan and approach for the Automated Test Framework, taking it from initial architecture straight through to Live deployment.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze, design, and optimize end-to-end service management processes, translating Ofsted's business requirements into scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Act as a technical mentor, upskilling Ofsted's key internal stakeholders and technical staff to ensure long-term self-sufficiency on the platform.
  • Platform Guardrails: Build robust, upgrade-resilient test suites that safeguard critical workflows without disrupting daily production.
What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong mix of technical mastery and consultative communication skills:

  • ServiceNow Expertise: Deep, hands-on development experience across the ServiceNow platform, with a proven track record of successful ATF (Automated Test Framework) rollouts.
  • Public Sector Context: A solid understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL-aligned processes operating within enterprise public sector environments.
  • Solution Architecture Mindset: Ability to map out end-to-end service delivery workflows and build scalable solutions rather than quick, heavily customized fixes.
  • Consultative Approach: Exceptional communication skills with a natural ability to translate complex technical concepts for stakeholders and mentor junior-to-mid level developers.
