Role: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Logistics (Contract)

Location: Birmingham

Shift Pattern: Rotating 12 Hour Shift Pattern Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday to Wednesday 7:00 - 19:00

Role Purpose

You will bridge the gap between operations and IT, ensuring that automation, warehouse management systems, interfaces, transport systems and supporting infrastructure operate reliably, predictably, and safely at scale. You will need to be red hot on anticipating IT failures before they happen. Down time in an organisation like this is critical. Diving deep into root cause analysis and elimination is also essential to the long term stability and security of the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Site Reliability and Operational Resilience
    This spans across WMS, Automation, Integration, IT Infrastructure. You will be a senior technical authority on what may impact operational downtime.
  • Proactive Monitoring
    Monitor critical systems and data flows such as SAP, Manhattan, dispatch, picking and warehouse execution. Monitoring tooling for latency issues, backlogs, system degradation.
  • Incident Leadership
    Act as the onsite technical lead during incidents, operating directly alongside the Control Room and Operations leadership. Identify when issues require an incident to be raised and ensure it is raised correctly, against the right service, with the right priority. Coordinate technical triage across multiple support towers.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement
    Lead root cause analysis following incidents and provide on-site operational insights. This will cover operational errors, system design weaknesses and technical faults. Support the identification and delivery of service reliability enhancements.

This is a business critical role where your experiences across SRE will be integral to the ongoing success of this organisation.
