This is a bit of a departure from the usual corporate fluff. If you’re looking for a "Head of BI" role where you can hide behind a dashboard and wait for instructions, this isn’t it.
I’m recruiting this on behalf of a client that sits right at the messy, profitable intersection of HealthTech and FinTech. They’ve got thousands of global locations and millions of users, but their data landscape is currently a collection of silos rather than a cohesive asset.
They need a Head of Business Intelligence who is less "reporter" and more "architect." The Reality: You aren’t walking into a polished, finished product. You’re walking into a "blank canvas" scenario. Your job is to take a high-volume payment system and a bunch of clinical data sets and turn them into a single, undeniable "Source of Truth."
You’ll be inheriting a small team with direct line management of two Analysts and you’ll also be the one holding third-party consultancies to account. If they aren’t delivering, you’ll be the one to fix it.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing:
- Strategy and Leadership: Define and execute a robust global data roadmap that supports international expansion and product development.
- Managing People and Partners: You’ll mentor your two internal analysts and manage external vendors to ensure the roadmap actually stays on track.
- Managing Up: You’ll be the primary interface for data. That means high-level stakeholder management, translating "data-speak" into commercial strategy for people who care about ROI, not just dbt models.
- Building the Stack: You’ll drive the move to a scalable lakehouse (Snowflake/Redshift) and manage the integrations across multi-currency and various Practice Management Systems.
- Commercial R&D: You’ll be looking at churn, lifetime value, and patient wellness trends. If the data doesn’t help the business grow or the patients get better care, it’s just noise.
Who You Are:
If you’ve spent your career in slow-moving corporates, you’ll hate this. We need someone from a FinTech or HealthTech background who understands that data security (GDPR/UK GDPR) isn’t a "nice to have"—it’s the whole game.
You need to be decisive. You need to know the modern stack (Airflow, Fivetran, Python) well enough to know when someone is pulling the wool over your eyes, but you need to be senior enough to step away from the keyboard and lead the strategy.
The Upside:
The business is already successful. The model is proven. They just need the engine room—the data—to catch up with the growth. You get the autonomy to build this function exactly how you think it should be built. No micromanagement, no "we’ve always done it this way." Just a clear mandate to make their data world-class.
