A well-established technology consultancy delivering large-scale projects across regulated industries is looking to hire a Senior Java Developer for a major financial services programme. This role sits within a long-term development project focused on modernising and enhancing core financial platforms in a highly regulated environment.
You'll work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, and modern frontend applications within a collaborative Agile engineering team.
The Role
You'll work as a hands-on full stack engineer contributing across the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and development through to deployment, testing, and production support. The environment is heavily cloud-focused, with modern CI/CD practices, containerised deployments, and scalable AWS-native services. This role would suit someone who is comfortable operating across backend and frontend development, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and wants to work on enterprise-scale systems within financial services.
Tech Environment
- Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture
- Cloud & AWS: AWS Lambda, ECS / ECR, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, Step Functions, CloudFormation, Apigee
- Frontend: Angular, React, TypeScript, Node.js
- DevOps & CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Maven, Groovy, Bash
- Testing & Quality: Cypress, Jest, Karate, Gherkin, SonarQube, Fortify on Demand
What They're Looking For
The hiring team is looking for strong commercial experience across three core areas:
- Java / Spring Boot - ideally strong backend engineering experience in production environments
- AWS Cloud Services - practical experience building and deploying applications into AWS
- Angular or React - commercial frontend development experience
Additional experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native engineering practices would be highly beneficial. If you're a strong full-stack Java developer with AWS experience and a background in Angular or React, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing programme with significant long-term investment and multiple hires already underway.
