The Opportunity
We are seeking a ServiceNow Solution Architect for an initial 3-month contract to drive a critical optimization, delivery, and enablement program for a prominent UK public sector end-client on behalf of our consultancy. This is a dual-aspect role requiring a rare blend of high-level architectural governance, strategic workflow design, and hands-on technical execution. You will review and optimize an established instance, deliver an Automated Test Framework (ATF) straight into Live, and lead structured knowledge transfer to help the client's internal teams achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Review & Best Practices
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the current ServiceNow architecture, specifically evaluating Incident Management, Change Management, and Service Requests (including specialized Property and HR Service Requests).
- Assess the Service Catalogue structure and usability to identify friction points.
- Provide robust advisory and design support for platform improvements, ensuring strict alignment with ServiceNow out-of-the-box (OOTB) best practices and industry standards.
- Automated Test Framework (ATF) Rollout
- Define the high-level implementation plan, governance, and approach for the ATF rollout.
- Utilize hands-on development expertise to safely build, validate, and execute the delivery of the ATF suite directly into the Live environment.
- Backlog & Process Optimization
- Review, refine, and optimize the existing development backlog to enhance platform scalability and maintainability.
- Identify and act on workflow optimization, cross-process automation, and SLA design/performance improvements.
- Formulate forward-thinking recommendations for incorporating AI capabilities into existing ServiceNow workflows.
- Knowledge Transfer & Enablement
- Deliver structured coaching and knowledge transfer sessions to internal key stakeholders.
- Cover core ServiceNow architecture principles, platform design/development best practices, and governance operating models.
- Provide practical, actionable guidance to foster complete self-sufficiency within the client's internal teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- ServiceNow Architecture Mastery: Deep understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture, including ITSM, data models, integrations, and best-practice design patterns.
- Hands-on Development (ATF Specialist): Proven development expertise within ServiceNow, specifically focusing on the creation, deployment, and live execution of Automated Test Frameworks.
- Process Engineering: Exceptional ability to analyze, design, and optimize end-to-end service management processes, translating complex business requirements into scalable, clean solutions.
- Public Sector & ITIL Context: Strong familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM), ITIL-aligned processes, and enterprise service delivery frameworks within a UK public sector context.
- Consultative Leadership: Strong stakeholder management skills with a natural ability to mentor internal teams, unpack complex technical concepts, and implement governance structures.
