Talent Consulting are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Architect with proven central government experience to help our client assess and provide design assurance across a complex ecosystem comprising microservices, monoliths, singleton applications and distributed monoliths.
As a Technical Architect you will be responsible for:
- Conduct comprehensive architectural assessments of existing microservices, monoliths and distributed systems
- Evaluate current architectural patterns and identify opportunities for optimisation
- Develop strategic recommendations to support architectural evolution and modernisation
- Provide design assurance and technical governance across multiple application types
- Create migration roadmaps from monolithic to microservice architectures, where appropriate
- Establish architectural standards and best practices for microservice development
- Collaborate with development teams to implement architectural improvements
Essential:
- Public Sector/ Central Government experience is essential
- Extensive experience in microservice architecture design and implementation
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems architectural patterns and anti-patterns
- Expertise in API design, service mesh technologies and containerisation
- Experience with cloud-native application architectures (on OpenShift)
- Proficiency in evaluating and recommending appropriate technology stacks
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in architectural modernisation and legacy system transformation
- Need to have lived in the UK for 5 years or more and need to be eligible for SC Clearance
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' experience in software development, with at least 2 years in architectural roles
- Proven track record of delivering successful architecture transformation programmes
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
