Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations Manager to lead our Security Operations Centre (SOC). In this contract role, you will lead a team of 8+ security professionals, drive the department's threat detection and response strategy, and act as the principal escalation point for critical incidents. You will also oversee managed service providers (MSSPs) to ensure strict adherence to SLAs and KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
- SOC Leadership: Direct, mentor, and manage an operational team of 8+ cyber security analysts using the UK Government Security Profession career framework.
- Incident Response: Lead end-to-end incident triage, containment, escalation, and post-incident reviews.
- Security Operations and SIEM: Oversee SIEM operations, intrusion detection, rule tuning, and proactive threat-hunting capabilities.
- Threat Intelligence: Analyze OSINT and commercial threat intelligence to mitigate organizational risks.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Manage MSSP performance, SLAs, and cross-government departmental SOC relationships.
- Reporting: Translate complex technical security metrics into clear, risk-focused business updates for executive leadership.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience leading SOC teams and security operational functions.
- In-depth expertise in Incident Management, SIEM platforms, and Threat Hunting.
- Hands-on experience leveraging OSINT and commercial Threat Intelligence.
- Strong track record managing MSSPs, vendor SLAs, and key stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, or ITIL) are desirable.
- Cloud security experience (AWS or Azure) is preferred.
£800.00 - £850.00 / day
