Job Description

A leading food manufacturer with a reputation for excellence and innovation is looking for a Field to Fork Buyer to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the journey from sourcing ingredients across the globe to delivering delicious, finished products to their customers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate price and supplier information in business systems, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed of changes.
- Monitor supplier performance in key areas such as pricing, service levels, and product quality.
- Work with planning and stock control to ensure continuity of supply.
- Keep an eye on global market trends and negotiate competitive prices, providing cost forecasts for both current and developing products.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through price improvement plans.
- Understand and communicate raw material usage, availability, shelf life, and minimum order quantities to support commercial feasibility.
- Support the New Product Development (NPD) team by sourcing new ingredients and raw materials.
- Manage supplier tenders and contract negotiations to secure the best terms and long-term value.
Requirements, Experience & Person Specification:
- Educated to A-level standard or equivalent (degree preferred but not essential with relevant industry experience)
- Strong knowledge of buying legislation and experience importing food ingredients
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong organisational skills with a methodical and detail-focused approach
- High level of numeracy and literacy, with the ability to analyse data and communicate clearly
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in manipulating and analysing large datasets
- Able to maintain accurate records, write detailed reports, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A proactive and conscientious mindset with a passion for food quality and sustainability
