Senior Recruitment Consultant at Talent Guardian
Talent Guardian is working with a premium design-led manufacturer near to Stevenage to recruit a Product Design Engineer with a passion for combining creativity, engineering expertise, and commercial awareness.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll take concepts from brief through to fully developed designs, applying both innovative thinking and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes. Working closely with UK and overseas teams, you’ll develop stylish, functional, and high-quality products that stand out in the market.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver product design and engineering solutions from initial brief through concept and detail design stages.
Generate innovative, consumer-focused design and mechanical solutions to engineering challenges.
Collaborate with industrial designers to integrate creative vision with functional requirements.
Identify appropriate manufacturing processes and materials during concept development.
Apply DFA and DFM principles to ensure efficient, high-quality production.
Liaise with overseas engineering teams to maintain aesthetic and functional intent during detail design.
Manage critical paths to ensure on-time delivery of the product development pipeline.
Create proof-of-concept and advanced prototypes for testing and assessment.
Research materials, processes, and technologies with potential industry applications.
Work closely with compliance teams to ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards.
Attend occasional overseas trips to review designs with manufacturing partners and visit trade shows/events in Europe.
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline (BSc preferred).
At least 3 years’ experience in a design department, consultancy, or manufacturing environment.
Experience working with manufacturing facilities, ideally including overseas suppliers.
Proven track record of developing innovative products from concept through to detailed design.
Experience with plastic product development.
Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas at all levels.
Experience collaborating with Far East manufacturers.
Background in consumer product industries.
