We are currently seeking a talented Specifications/Product Technologist to join a leading food industry client. This exciting opportunity will allow you to work within a collaborative technical team, ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

About the Role:

As a Specifications/Product Technologist, you’ll support the Technical Manager to ensure compliance with food safety, specifications, and labelling. You’ll work with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to maintain accurate product specs and meet legal and customer requirements. You’ll also deputise for the Technical Manager when needed and assist with ad-hoc projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to create and update product and packaging specifications accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update customer specification platforms (such as Evolve) with all relevant technical information.
  • Support food safety and labelling compliance in line with UK regulations and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the NPD and Marketing teams to ensure all specifications, pack copies, artwork, and labels are compliant with legislation.
  • Assist with BRCGS Storage & Distribution accreditation, with a focus on specifications, product risk assessments, and labelling.
  • Manage customer complaints, liaising with suppliers and customers when required.
  • Provide assistance with packaging data collection and reporting for both internal systems and external reporting platforms.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Product Development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in writing product specifications and an understanding of UK labelling requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a technical food industry role.
  • Knowledge of BRC requirements.
  • HACCP Level 2 or Level 3 qualification would be great!
