Meat Trader   Location: Brighton, East Sussex, Hybrid working Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 depending on experience Job Type: Full time, Permanent   The Opportunity: We are recruiting for an experienced Meat Trader to join a successful and growing wholesale meat business based in the South of England. This is an excellent opportunity for an established meat industry professional who has strong experience in buying and selling meat products, alongside an existing network of supplier and customer relationships. Working closely with the senior management team, you will take responsibility for sourcing competitively priced products, developing new trading opportunities and managing buying and selling activity to maximise margin and commercial performance. The business is continuing to expand its customer and supplier network across the UK and internationally, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play an important part in its next stage of growth.   Key Responsibilities: - Source competitively priced meat products from suppliers across the UK, Europe and wider global markets. - Buy and sell meat products while managing day to day trading positions and protecting commercial margins. - Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers. - Develop new supplier and customer opportunities across the UK. - Negotiate pricing, volumes and commercial terms with both suppliers and customers. - Monitor market pricing, availability, supply and demand, and seasonal trends to support trading decisions. - Manage stock commitments and trading exposure, balancing commercial opportunity with risk. - Work closely with senior management and operations to ensure trading activity supports wider business objectives. - Ensure trading activity meets relevant food safety, quality and traceability requirements. - Maintain accurate records relating to trades, pricing, suppliers and customers.   About You We are looking for someone with: - Proven experience buying and selling meat products within the meat or wider food industry. - An established network of supplier and customer contacts, ideally with national reach. - Strong knowledge of the meat market, including pricing, supply chains, seasonality and market trends. - Excellent commercial awareness with a strong understanding of margin. - Confident negotiation and relationship building skills. - The ability to manage your own trading activity and make commercially sound decisions. - A proactive approach to developing new business and identifying trading opportunities. - Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail.   What's on Offer? - Salary of £40,000 to £60,000 depending on experience - Hybrid working - Company pension - Employee discount - Cycle to work scheme - Health and wellbeing programme - Free parking - On site parking - Permanent opportunity within a growing and ambitious business.   If you are an experienced Meat Trader, Meat Buyer, Meat Sales Trader or commercial meat industry professional looking for your next opportunity, we would be keen to hear from you
